Will Property Prices Drop In Spain After Coronavirus

Over the last few weeks during the coronavirus lock down in Spain, the team at Zebra Homes real estate Guardamar have been asked a similar question, "will property prices drop in spain after coronavirus?".

The short answer to this is that the Spanish property market has yet to be directly affected in terms of prices…  Whilst Spain has been under 'LOCK DOWN' for 6 weeks, the situation is much different compared to the financial crisis we faced in 2008 - 2012 that had a significant impact on property prices across Europe.

This time; the government in Spain (and many across Europe) have supported workers and many have received income support to get them through the last few months.  Construction sites only stopped for 2-3 weeks, many (new) properties are still being built with social distancing being observed and adhered-to.

With more time ‘at home’ and online, clients continue to look for property and hope they can return again later this year.  The team here at Zebra Homes real estate Guardamar continue to receive inquiries for properties and we continue to share new property listings with our clients.

Whilst the world seems very different at the moment, as Spain presents a 4-6 week plan to come out of isolation (in various stages) life slowly starts to turn to normal and hopefully we will all look-back and see this merely as a 2 month ‘break’ from the hectic pace of life.

Both Germany and Italy already have de-isolation plans and if the UK also returns to some kind of normality in the next 6 weeks, maybe we will start to see some form of air-travel in the Autumn.  Many real estate agents are hoping for an influx of property buyers looking to make up for lost time.

So, to summarise... will property prices drop in spain after coronavirus?  currently, it hasn't had a direct impact on prices (yet) and we hope the world can pull together through these difficult times and go back to some form of normality soon.
