SPAIN BUYING GUIDE 2020 How To Buy In Spain
1) Use the Internet: You're obviously already at this point and well-practiced on searching for information about buying a property in Spain, that's why you are here. More and more people start their search for a property in Spain via the internet giving you quick access to so much info.
2) Search the area - do you know where you want to buy a property? Are you looking for property in Costa Blanca, searching for apartments for sale in Costa del Sol, looking for a villa for sale in Quesada or Alicante or maybe you want to buy a property in Madrid or Barcelona. Wherever you have decided, search and read-up about the area, the local customs, how easy it may be to find a job (if you do not speak Spanish), amenities and things to do in the area for you and your family. Think how you and your family life and demands / needs may change in 5 -10 years time.
3) Search for properties matching your criteria and your budget. You may not always find what you want where you want and may have to be prepared to compromise on what or where (or, if you can, increase your budget). There are finance options and you could also apply for a mortgage with one of the top Spanish banks. Sign-up with a Real Estate agent, tell them what you are looking for and ask them to send property udpates when they have new listings or properties matching your criteria. Most agents have a sophisticated back-office that will automatically send properties matching your criteria and budget.
4) Visit Spain - sounds simple but there is no better option but to explore the area (fully) and see the properties in-person than coming to Spain and vieiwng a number of properties short-listed by you and your real estate agent.
5) Find a good real estate agent! Build a rapport, give them feedback (this will help them find the right property for you) and by building a good relationship, you will then have someone who is prepared to go an extra mile with helping you with all the extra fiddly bits of buying a property in Spain. (see below for a sumamry of the things a 'good' real estate agent will help you with....
